<br />
<br />- boy or girl?
<br />- birthday? (due date is January 31)
<br />- birth weight?
<br />- name?
<br />
<br />Have fun!

<br />
<br />Hoping to draw on the wisdom of those that have already started their journey down this path, I have a few items for which I am seeking the advice of experts:
<br />
<br />1. Essential items to have in the house for mom, dad & baby
<br />
<br />2. Items we really don't need (but clever marketers insist we do)
<br />
<br />3. Good reading material for what to do when the little one comes home with us (I am shamefully clueless in this department)
<br />
<br />4. How to help the furry one prepare for the new arrival
<br />
<br />
<br />We will definitely be grateful for any pearls of wisdom you have to share.

Tom and I made the trip to California over spring break and had a great time. We got to spend a day with my cousin Cathy and her husband during which time it was decided that it's high time to have a gathering of the cousins and relatives. We also realized that neither of our husbands have been to the glorious place in Montana known as Columbia Falls, one of the most beautiful places on earth.<br /><br />Just like that, Cathy and I find ourselves in charge of planning a family reunion. Wow. Hmm . . .<br />I must confess that I am not exactly sure where to start on this one. <br /><br />So, dear readers, if you have any advice to give or tips on family activities or important details to remember, do send them my way.Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-30707951976521191412010-05-09T19:19:00.000-07:002010-05-09T19:34:04.128-07:0010 FavoritesHappy Mother's Day! Graced with a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I decided Duncan and I should go check it out. They have a huge play area and a small lake for puppy play.<br /><br />While terribly adorable, my dog is not the most well behaved of animals. He does know his name, but does not always respond on command. Further, he has a terribly loud bark and I think sometimes he barks just because he likes the sound of his own voice.<br /><br />For those of you who have experience with dogs and dog parks, when is it ok to let my dog off the leash and go play? I don't want to be the person in the park who really shouldn't have let their dog loose to antagonize or annoy all the other dogs.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S6TqY5Td4nI/AAAAAAAABgY/Hgey4ea6QwE/s640/IMG_1796.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 487px; height: 252px;" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S6TqY5Td4nI/AAAAAAAABgY/Hgey4ea6QwE/s640/IMG_1796.JPG" alt="" border="0" /></a>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-31776168862238207602010-03-21T07:31:00.001-07:002010-03-21T07:44:38.125-07:00Taylor InvasionI always find it a little heartbreaking to leave family members at the airport and yesterday was no exception. I heard so many wonderful choral performances in two days. A choir from Korea delivered one of the best performances of the weekend. Not only did the group produce glorious sounds, they were very captivating performers as well.<br /><br /> While I am sure this clip won't begin to capture the essence of their talent, it will give you a taste. If this group is ever within reach, I would highly recommend seeing them.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.tpf.org.tw/2004festival/image/group_korea.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 256px; height: 111px;" src="http://www.tpf.org.tw/2004festival/image/group_korea.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avejm6hMJ_I">Incheon City Chorale</a><br /></div>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-13677115114112626042010-02-26T16:13:00.000-08:002010-02-26T16:20:45.313-08:00Where to Find Us This Weekend<div style="text-align: center;"><span style=";font-family:Palatino Linotype;font-size:130%;" ><strong><em>The Sonoran Desert Chorale presents</em></strong></span><span style="font-size:130%;"><br />"Due North - Songs of Canada"</span><span style=";font-family:Palatino Linotype;font-size:130%;" ><strong><em><br />A Tribute to the Music of Canada</em></strong></span></div><p align="center"><br /><span style=";font-family:Palatino Linotype;font-size:100%;" ><strong><em></em></strong></span></p><p align="center"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.sonorandesertchorale.org/images/spring_img.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 404px; height: 275px;" src="http://www.sonorandesertchorale.org/images/spring_img.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.sonorandesertchorale.org/schedule.htm">http://www.sonorandesertchorale.org/schedule.htm</a><br /><br /></div>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-36639967748682594302010-02-23T19:39:00.001-08:002010-02-23T19:45:32.184-08:00The little brother is coming to visit soon - so excited!<br /><br />What AZ adventures do you recommend for out of town visitors?<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S4SgjSlKRuI/AAAAAAAABXU/3hLXoGqACOE/s1600-h/IMG_0848.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S4SgjSlKRuI/AAAAAAAABXU/3hLXoGqACOE/s200/IMG_0848.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5441650777913968354" border="0" /></a>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-23607508169302019972010-02-21T11:00:00.000-08:002010-02-21T11:10:32.577-08:00First, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who shared thoughts and insights as to what I should do next in life. The list has been narrowed :-)<br /><br />We now consult our readership regarding other matters:<br /><br />~ We are still looking for good summer housing options in Tucson. Having accepted a summer internship there, Thomas needs a place to crash 3-4 nights a week. (May - August)<br /><br />~ Doggie day care: our little guy needs a place to stay and play 2-3 days a week (March - May); a good dog walker would also workTom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-37122186998948673242010-01-10T17:38:00.000-08:002010-01-10T17:55:46.536-08:00New Year, New PathOne of the goals I have set for myself in the new year is to make a choice about which direction to go next in terms of a career.<br /><br /> Below is a short list of things on the table for consideration. If you have any insights or even suggestions, I would love to hear your thoughts.<br /><br /> - MBA/MEd: education consulting/policy<br /> - MBA: management consulting/sustainable (green) business<br /> - Engineering: probably environmental<br /> - Corporate training/education<br /> - Pharmacy (I realize I am old and that this will take many years of school)<br /><br /> Thank you!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S0qE-k9JNMI/AAAAAAAABW0/kbWDdP8zr9c/s1600-h/IMG_1514.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/S0qE-k9JNMI/AAAAAAAABW0/kbWDdP8zr9c/s200/IMG_1514.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425294911728071874" border="0" /></a>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-16090149879868764972010-01-04T17:13:00.001-08:002010-01-04T17:18:00.698-08:00More from the StudentsBack to school today after a great holiday break. In conversation with one of my students, the following transpired:<br /><br />Student: Didn't your [college] football team play in a bowl game?<br /><br />Me: Yes.<br /><br />Student: Didn't they win?<br /><br />Me: Yes, they did.<br /><br />Student: I cheered for your team.<br /><br /> :-)Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-54302568322561311192009-12-19T06:46:00.000-08:002009-12-19T06:48:24.349-08:00Summer InternshipThomas just accepted a summer internship with Raytheon at their Tucson location. Anyone know of good short term housing options?<br /><br /> We're (I'm?) hoping this leads to a job offer in Colorado, or maybe Australia :-)Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-37351917460639364482009-12-09T17:38:00.000-08:002009-12-09T17:47:18.620-08:00Christmas Concert Craziness<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SyBS4992V7I/AAAAAAAABR8/MoBpOAOBhTU/s1600-h/IMG_1661.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SyBS4992V7I/AAAAAAAABR8/MoBpOAOBhTU/s320/IMG_1661.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413417890759464882" border="0" /></a>We survived (rather literally) weekend #1 of holiday concerts. It all started with a 4.5 hour dress rehearsal on a Friday night with the children's chorus followed by two concerts on Saturday. As I am driving away from the venue thinking about how gifted the directors are, I notice traffic is rather backed up so I stop. Much to my dismay, the driver behind me did not.<br /><br /> Thankfully no one was injured and lucky for me, my husband was a few cars behind to rescue me and talk with the other party.<br /><br />Sigh . . .<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SyBS4XC3NKI/AAAAAAAABR0/cieLn92Qn-8/s1600-h/IMG_1658.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SyBS4XC3NKI/AAAAAAAABR0/cieLn92Qn-8/s320/IMG_1658.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413417880311510178" border="0" /></a>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002046471900462330.post-59021617748331936802009-12-06T07:33:00.000-08:002009-12-06T07:37:49.407-08:00Someone asked me the other day if I was ever going to update my blog again. I'm not really sure there's too much excitement happening in our lives.<br /><br />Wait . . we did get a dog in December. His name is Duncan :-)<br /><br />Here are a few pictures to entertain the masses.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SxvPhqcqG1I/AAAAAAAABRE/J0Lf_fJShgk/s1600-h/IMG_1620.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SxvPhqcqG1I/AAAAAAAABRE/J0Lf_fJShgk/s320/IMG_1620.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412147554452904786" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SxvPXejBC3I/AAAAAAAABQ8/fQgbUFq0d8g/s1600-h/IMG_1617.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_AN4KUF_8JOo/SxvPXejBC3I/AAAAAAAABQ8/fQgbUFq0d8g/s320/IMG_1617.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412147379459656562" border="0" /></a>Tom and Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03988629480602079410noreply@blogger.com2
