Two More Things

I remembered 2 more things I wanted to add to my list of ambitions for 2012:

1. Add a few new words to my working vocabulary
2. Start an MBA program in the fall

Because it makes me feel a bit unsettled to have my list parceled out between two posts, here it is in its entirety:

1. learn to crochet
2. learn to sew
3. get a motorcycle license
4. run the Boogie to the Bank 5k (July)
5. run a 10k
6. do a better job of calling my sisters-in-law just to chat
7. add a few new words to my working vocabulary
8. get accepted into and start an MBA program in the fall

Wishing you many memorable moments in this new year!

3 Years

Last week Thomas and I celebrated our third anniversary. It's hard to believe that three years have already passed since we gathered our families together in Estes Park for our wedding.

In thinking about our lives together, it seemed a good time to also celebrate all the wonderful people that have been with us along the way. We have such an incredible group of family and friends!

We are so grateful for those who have been there to guide us, encourage us and be companions to us throughout this journey.

Guessing Game

With just a few days to go before we find out if we've got a little boy or a little girl, it seemed like a right fine time to play a little guessing game on the blog :-)

- boy or girl?
- birthday? (due date is January 31)
- birth weight?
- name?

Have fun!

Essentials

Now that I am feeling at least well enough to be functional, I am feeling the need to start planning for a house with a little one.

Hoping to draw on the wisdom of those that have already started their journey down this path, I have a few items for which I am seeking the advice of experts:

1. Essential items to have in the house for mom, dad & baby

2. Items we really don't need (but clever marketers insist we do)

3. Good reading material for what to do when the little one comes home with us (I am shamefully clueless in this department)

4. How to help the furry one prepare for the new arrival

We will definitely be grateful for any pearls of wisdom you have to share.

The Last 12 in Review

Since we had such a prolonged absence from the blog, I thought I would take a few minutes to catch you up on a rather eventful past 12 months.

- Summer 2010: Tom in Tucson for his summer internship

- July : Motorcycle trip to Niagara Falls with Tom Sr. & Deb

- August: Tom starts his 2nd year of grad school
We learn that riding the motorcycle in temperatures over 100 degrees is remarkably unpleasant (think blow dryer in your face)

- October: Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque (If you've never been, this event is well worth attending)

- November: Lots of job interviews for Tom and Thanksgiving in Los Angeles

- December: Christmas in Cheyenne; Duncan gets to experience snow

- March: Spring break trip to Cali - Disney Land, San Francisco, Sonoma & Jelly Belly

- May: Tom graduates from ASU with his MBA!!
I made the tough decision to not sign a teaching contract in order to pursue another degree

- June: Trip to China and Tom starts his new job at Intel

- July: Koontz family beach week in Sea Isle City, NJ

I think that brings us up to date for now. We'll keep you posted with any breaking news :-)

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
